Toward the Light
Toward the Light
12” x 16” | Mixed Media on Cotton Canvas
There are times when we don’t need to see the entire path. We only need to recognize which direction holds the light.
Toward the Light is an intimate abstract painting filled with movement, contrast, and small moments of discovery. Deep indigo, cobalt, and violet rise through soft passages of cream, silver, and white, while unexpected touches of gold, orange, turquoise, and pink appear like fragments caught along the way.
The composition naturally pulls the eye upward.
Organic forms twist and travel through the painting, sometimes suggesting branches, pathways, water, or an imagined landscape before dissolving back into abstraction. Above them, a luminous expanse creates a feeling of openness—as though the painting is moving from something deep and mysterious toward somewhere lighter.
Texture and expressive marks reveal themselves gradually. From across the room, Toward the Light feels bold and fluid. Move closer and you’ll discover the quieter details: partially hidden colors, scratched and layered surfaces, and little passages that seem to have their own stories.
Created intuitively through layers of mixed media, this piece is about movement without certainty—the willingness to follow what draws us forward even when we can’t yet see exactly where it leads.
At 12” × 16”, Toward the Light is a small original with a surprisingly expansive presence. It can live beautifully on its own, tucked into a shelf or intimate wall, or alongside other collected artwork where its rich blues and luminous passages add depth, color, and a sense of possibility.
Original artwork. One of a kind.
