The Opening
The Opening
12” x 16” x .75” | Mixed Media on Cotton Canvas
Sometimes the smallest opening is all we need to glimpse what lies beyond.
The Opening draws the eye through sweeping passages of deep blue, softened whites, and unexpected flashes of orange, violet, green, and pink. Bold organic forms seem to rise and separate around a luminous center, creating the sensation that something is opening—a clearing, a passage, perhaps even another world.
From a distance, the painting feels expansive and full of movement. Up close, layers of texture, expressive brushwork, translucent color, and tiny unexpected details begin to reveal themselves.
There are hints of things you might recognize, but nothing asks to be named. A form might become a wing, a branch, water, stone, or simply a beautiful sweep of color. The painting leaves space for imagination to finish what the eye begins.
Created intuitively through layers of mixed media, The Opening is about possibility—that moment when what felt closed begins to give way and we catch the first glimpse of something beyond it.
Despite its intimate 12” × 16” scale, this original carries surprising presence. It would be beautiful tucked into a collected gallery wall, displayed on a shelf or bookcase, or given its own small space where its rich color and quiet mystery can draw you closer.
